Flying Dutchmen treats aftercare as part of ownership. When a horse leaves racing, the next step should fit that horse: its health, temperament, ability, and circumstances.
There is no single path after the track. Some horses move into new careers, some into breeding, and some into quieter retirement. The obligation is the same in every case: to plan carefully and act in the horse's interest.
For others, the right path is quieter: turnout, rest, and a life away from the track.
Many Thoroughbreds adapt well to new work after racing, from riding and sport to other hands-on roles suited to the individual horse.
